Episode 32! There is NOTHING wrong with the Word, the bible is full of people who have heard the Word to the result of belief and obedience. The Word produces nothing but hearers that believe and do. If we don’t see that in you, it’s not because of the seed, it’s because of where the seed was sown. The Word was heard but it entered a mind full of cares, overrun by this aggressive invader that overwhelms every part of the mind and prevents the Word from producing belief and obedience in your life. You need this in your life. Listen and enjoy.

Is The Word Growing In You?
18 Still others are like the seeds (word) sown among the thorns (cares). They hear the Word, 19 but the cares of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth, and the desire for other things come in and choke the Word, and it becomes unfruitful (void of faith and obedience).
When The Word Is Sown Among Cares It Can’t Grow
5 Thorns and snares are in the way of the perverse; He who guards himself will be far from them.
The response to the Word isn’t just faith or belief in it, but obedience in it. Christ Himself said in Luke 11:28
But he said, “Blessed rather are those who hear the Word of God and keep it!”
That is the fruit produced by the seed of the Word—belief that leads to obedience. Read a passage from an article about a certain type of thorn brier similar to the type Jesus was referencing in this parable:
“My backyard is being devoured by a silent but aggressive invader, multiflora rose (Rosa multiflora). This thorny perennial shrub is an Asian import with arching green stems called canes that can reach 10-15 feet long. It advances across open ground at an alarming rate. Each spring, I am confronted with a jumble of new stems that wield half-inch thorns. Left unattended, multiflora rose would take over my yard. The plant’s growth allows it to leapfrog across open spaces. When a cane tip touches the ground, it can root there and send up another cane. This botanical juggernaut climbs over anything in its way, creating impenetrable thickets of thorns up to 10 feet high.”
7 Other seeds fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked them. Choke comes from a word meaning choke utterly, crowd upon, choked
because joined with.
Cares Choke Word
Cares comes from a Word that looks at anxiety or cares as something that divides us or distracts us. The scripture doesn’t just speak of these faith-killing cares that halt
obedience in our lives, but it shows us where these cares come from…this life. This life exposes us to these word-choking cares on a daily basis, but your job is to remove “this life” from your life.
Detangle Your Life From This Life
2 Timothy 2:4 No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier
Luke 21:34 “But watch yourselves lest your hearts be weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and cares of this life, and that day come upon you suddenly like a trap.
1 Corinthians 7:25-35
25 Now about virgins, I have no command from the Lord, but I give a judgment as one who by the Lord’s mercy is trustworthy.
26 Because of the present crisis, I think it is good for a man to remain as he is. 27 Are you committed to a wife? Do not seek to be released. Are you free of commitment? Do not look for a wife.
28 But if you do marry, you have not sinned. And if a virgin marries, she has not sinned. But those who marry will face troubles in this life, and I want to spare you this.
29 What I am saying, brothers, is that the time is short. From now on those who have wives should live as if they had none;
30 those who weep, as if they did not; those who are joyful, as if they were not; those who make a purchase, as if they had nothing;
31 and those who use the things of this world, as if not dependent on them. For this world in its present form is passing away.
32 I want you to be free from concern. The unmarried man is concerned about the work of the Lord, how he can please the Lord.
33 But the married man is concerned about the affairs of this world, how he can please his wife,
34 and his interests are divided. The unmarried woman or virgin is concerned about the work of the Lord, how she can be holy in both body and spirit. But the married woman is concerned about the affairs of this world, how she can please her husband.
35 I am saying this for your own good, not to restrict you, but in order to promote proper decorum and undivided devotion to the Lord.
Cares Don’t Produce Obedience, They Produce Excuses
15 When one of those who reclined at table with him heard these things, he said to him, “Blessed is everyone who will eat bread in the kingdom of God!”
16 But he said to him, “A man once gave a great banquet and invited many.
17 And at the time for the banquet he sent his servant to say to those who had been invited, ‘Come, for everything is now ready.’
18 But they all alike began to make excuses. The first said to him, ‘I have bought a field, and I must go out and see it. Please have me excused.’
19 And another said, ‘I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to examine them. Please have me excused.’
20 And another said, ‘I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.’
The response to God’s Word is obedience NOT excuses. But when we hear His word while being entangled with the cares of this life, the only thing we produce is reasons why we can’t obey God’s Word. Once we hear the Word we are not excused, we are expected to believe and obey.
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
